Weld County Fair Board Minutes

September 8, 2025


Meeting called to order by President Aaron Helus at 6:00 p.m.

Members Present: Aaron Helus, Isaia Aricayos, Bailey Naibauer, Levi Loveland, Tom Bledsoe and Courtney Smith

Ex-Officio/Staff Present: Mikayla Gabel, Cheryl Aragon and Kim Eastwood

Special Guests: None

Additions/Changes to the Agenda: Nothing at this time

Motion to approve the Consent Agenda by Levi Loveland, second by Tom Bledsoe; motion passed

Special Guests/Requests:

  1. Commissioner Update -- Commissioner Ross shared that the county CFO taking a position outside of county, currently budget season, a lot of projects going on now. 
  2. Royalty Update – Princess Addison shared update and appreciation for the completed year and looks forward to being Queen next year.

Old Business:

  1. Working Budget -- nothing to update at this time. 
  2. Fair Coordinator Update -- looking ahead next month to plan a budget work session, committee liaison assignments, and selecting board leadership; Landon, Aaron and Levi have been confirmed to another term by WCBOCC, Cindy retiring from the Extension Office and her last day is Friday. 

New Business:

  1. Jr Fair Board Applications –MOTION to approve Bryan M application by Tom Bledsoe, second by Levi Loveland; motion passed. MOTION to approve Garrett H application by Tom Bledsoe, second by Levi Loveland; motion passed. MOTION to approve Reagan E application by Bailey Naibauer, second by Levi Loveland; motion passed. MOTION to approve Paige R application by Levi Loveland, second by Bailey Naibauer; motion passed. MOTION to approve Brody J by Levi Loveland, second by Bailey Naibauer; motion passed. MOTION to approve Maylin B application by Levi Loveland, second by Tom Bledsoe; motion passed. 
  2. Jr Fair Board Advisor Applications – MOTION to approve Cheryl A application by Bailey Naibauer, second by Levi Loveland; motion passed. MOTION to approve Kayla F application by Levi Loveland, second by Bailey Naibauer; motion passed. 
  3. Carcass Contest Awards on September 25
  4. Sale Committee meeting this evening, September 8
  5. Livestock Committee meeting this next weel -- will request streamline process for receiving judge recommendations, will create a redline document for their review. 
  6. Working Budget -- Courtney presented updated budget, waiting on a couple more items, so far we are coming in below budget.
  7. Drug Testing -- update from Texas A&M -- need 14 pellets for rabbits, need larger pens for each rabbit with parchment underneath and leave them for the rest of the day, approximate cost for pens is around $600.

  2. Royalty Gala coming up on Sept 20
  3. Carcass Contest Sept 25
