Weld County Fair Board Minutes
November 3, 2025
Meeting called to order by Vice President Aaron Helus at 6:00 PM
MEMBERS PRESENT: Isaia Aricayos, Tom Bledsoe, Bailey Naibauer, Levi Loveland and Aaron Helus
EX-OFFICIO/STAFF PRESENT: Kim Eastwood and Larry Hooker
SPECIAL GUESTS: Addison, Steve, and other various guests Additions/Changes to agenda: add Addison and Steve to special guests/requests MOTION to approve additions and consent agenda by Levi Loveland, second by Tom Bledsoe; motion passed.
SPECIAL GUESTS/REQUESTS:
1) Commissioner Ross – interviewed for board member replacement, selected Fred Kyser, will be voted on this Wednesday to formalize decision. County busy with budgets at this time. County helping Food Bank with covering food needs while Federal shutdown continues.
2) Royalty Update – Attendant Dakota – a lot of activity last month and this upcoming month includes CAFS attendance
3) Jr. Fair Board – introduced themselves and shared about their first meeting and selection of officers
4) Addison Hodgson – formally presented her letter of apology
5) Steve Steinkamp – daughter will be out of town during Fair for competitive basketball, her last year of playing basketball. Would like to see if there are options, specifically if she shows in another county this year. At this time, 4H rules specify a two year lapse for transfer.
OLD BUSINESS:
1) Working Budget – reports received and updates made
2) Fair Coordinator Update – working on movie night sponsor, vendor packet updates forthcoming, will discuss 2026 entertainment options.
NEW BUSINESS:
1) MOTION to increase camper fee $10 by Tom Bledsoe, second by Levi Loveland; motion passed.
2) Committee Reports:
a. Premier Exhibitor (Tom Bledsoe) – nothing to report at this time
b. Carcass Contest (Isaia Aricayos) – nothing to report at this time
c. All Around Showmanship (Tom Bledsoe) – nothing to report at this time
d. Drug Testing (Landon Cogburn) – no meeting at this time
e. Junior Fair Board (Aaron Helus) – meetings are scheduled for the fourth Mondays of the month, elected officers, working on community engagement activities
f. Junior Livestock Sale (Bailey Neibauer) – elected officers
g. Security, Parking and Risk Mgmt (Levi Loveland) – added new member to committee, working on setting up a meeting
h. Royalty (Aaron Helus) – looking forward to new year with group, CAFS coming up this week
i. Livestock Animal Health (Landon Cogburn) – judges selected so Mikayla is working on contacting judging, moving rabbit show from 11 to 9 AM, MOTION to approve Mr. Walker for committee term, 1 year, by Tom Bledsoe, second by Bailey Neibauer; motion passed. Officers elected, no change from last year. Judge selection process updated. MOTION by Tom Bledsoe, second by Levi Loveland to accept changes as recommended by committee; motion passed. Retinal scan review and fair book wording will be forthcoming.
ANNOUNCEMENTS/GENERAL DISCUSSION:
1) Next Meeting Monday, Dec 1 @ 6 PM at County Fair Extension Office
2) Welcome Fred to the Fair Board!
3) Begin considering Fair Friend, Rising Star, Dedication recommendations
