Weld County Fair Board Meeting

May 4, 2026

Meeting called to order by President Landon Cogburn at 5:58 PM

MEMBERS PRESENT: Aaron Helus, Landon Cogburn, Tom Bledsoe, Levi Loveland, Fred Kayser, Isaia 

Aricayos, Bailey Naibauer

EX-OFFICIO/STAFF PRESENT: Mikayla Gabel, Cheryl Aragon, Kim Easton and Larry Hooker SPECIAL GUESTS: 

Commissioner Peppler

Additions/Changes to agenda: MOTION to approve consent agenda by Tom Bledsoe, second by Levi 

Loveland; motion passed.

MOTION to approve April financials by Tom Bledsoe, second by Aaron Helus; motion passed.

SPECIAL GUESTS/REQUESTS:

1) Commissioner Lynette Peppler update – County has approved contract to exchange properties with 

the City, work will begin soon; live-feed approved for demolition and construction

2) Junior Fair Board – fair tours as a whole group and having a booth, food drive

donation requests were sent to club, working on details for a coat drive; signage with QR codes for 

information will be set around the fairgrounds; details are coming

together

OLD BUSINESS:

1) Fair Staff Update – received signed contract with music group, being reviewed by county; fair 

book sent for print – supported by Tribune this year and new editor;

hands of praise group will be there for BBQ; royalty committee member resignation – received app 

for committee from McKenna Adams, will meet with her to discuss appointment; sponsorship responses 

are coming in, very encouraging; tent rental contracts this year projected to be around $30k; 

Vendors – received a lot of

applications, more than half of applications were new; hot summer nights – watch a movie, vendors 

may stay open until 9 PM, a lot of room and opportunity; however, there would be multiple similar 

vendors possible, will communicate with each vendor to let them know if they still want to 

participate. MOTION by Tom Bledsoe to approve all vendor applications, second by Levi Loveland; 

motion passed. Fair data

clerk offer letter sent, waiting on finalizing hiring for the new position.

 

2) Entertainment Update – carnival, 12 games, concert – Front Row Revival, special events, KFKA 

highlighting events starting this month, another idea is speaking with Pirate Radio

NEW BUSINESS:

1) Committee Reports:

a. Premier Exhibitor (Tom Bledsoe) – nothing to report currently

b. Carcass Contest (Isaia Aricayos) – sponsorship money coming in from

request letters, will follow up on sponsor for ultrasound as invoice has been received and paid for 

the last two years

c.  All Around Showmanship (Tom Bledsoe) – judge contracts sent and are being received, will 

continue to be worked on

d. Drug Testing (Landon Cogburn) – meeting this week Wednesday

e. Junior Fair Board (Aaron Helus) – see above reports, further developing fair project ideas 

currently

f.  Junior Livestock Sale (Bailey Naibauer) – looking at options for processing, Showtimes quotes 

pending, working on photographer, working on meal, JBS will donate meat, plan to have a new 

backdrop for sale

g. Security, Parking and Risk Management (Levi Loveland) – received two

bids, referrals and experience of Precision Security look very good; MOTION

to accept Precision Security proposal as presented by Tom Bledso, seconded by Fred Kayser; motion 

passed.

h. Royalty (Aaron Helus) – busy with events, will work on adding committee member

i.  Livestock Animal Health (Landon Cogburn) – still looking for donations for tent, will go back 

to committee for further discussion, finance dept checking into options for tent budget

ANNOUNCEMENTS/GENERAL DISCUSSION:

1) Next Meeting Monday, June 1 @ 6 PM at County Fair Extension Office

2) ID Day tomorrow evening at three locations; 2 PM traffic controls set up for event
