Weld County Fair Board Meeting

July 6, 2026

Meeting called to order by President Landon Cogburn at 6:00 PM

MEMBERS PRESENT: Aaron Helus, Landon Cogburn, Tom Bledsoe, Fred Kayser, Isaia Aricayos, Bailey Naibauer

EX-OFFICIO/STAFF PRESENT: Mikayla Gabel, Cheryl Aragon, Kim Eastwood and Larry Hooker

SPECIAL GUESTS: Royalty, Junior Fair Board

Additions/Changes to agenda: MOTION to approve consent agenda by Tom Bledsoe, second by Aaron Helus; motion passed.

MOTION to approve June financials by Tom Bledsoe, second by Aaron Helus; motion passed.

SPECIAL GUESTS/REQUESTS:

1) Royalty – Whole court presented whole court presented an update to the board, very busy summer, excited for Fair just around the corner

2) Junior Fair Board – a lot of planning for events and activities during Fair

3) Commissioner Peppler -- July 17th County sponsoring Friday fest, 80’s theme

OLD BUSINESS:

1) Fair Staff Update – contracts are signed and approved, service providers booked, waiting for a few more commitment of funds to be received, entries are closed; 4H family, Willbanks, Cody had a tragic accident this weekend and will need help with livestock, looking ahead for fundraising opportunity and other ways to support the family

2) Entertainment Update – prizes came in for carnival, earning tickets; serving training this Thursday, 1-3PM, with GPD

NEW BUSINESS:

1) Committee Reports:

a. Premier Exhibitor (Tom Bledsoe) – receiving funds, judges and tests are ready to go

b. Carcass Contest (Isaia Aricayos) – still working on hearing back from Christy to clarify sponsorship for the event

c. All Around Showmanship (Tom Bledsoe) – waiting to hear back from host to confirm availability for small animals

d. Drug Testing (Landon Cogburn) – all set for Fair; looking ahead to next year module education training during fair registration

e. Junior Fair Board (Aaron Helus) – update provided above, sponsors will post concert on websites, poster up at Murdoch’s

f. Junior Livestock Sale (Bailey Naibauer) – new backdrop completed and ready, ordered new red carpet, meal figured out, 13 applications received for ambassadors, vendors by sale arena need location from committee,

g. Security, Parking and Risk Management (Board) – 9AM set up July 18, locates ordered, street closure set up with City, permits completed, signs ordered

h. Royalty (Aaron Helus) – update provided earlier, going well and very busy

i. Livestock Animal Health (Landon Cogburn) – issue of wristbands will continue, will be a topic after fair, will follow-up on approved people watching each species, paper Incident Forms will be completed this year

ANNOUNCEMENTS/GENERAL DISCUSSION:

1) Next Meeting Monday, July 20 through 25 during Fair at 1 PM at the Extension office unless otherwise noted

2) Next regular meeting, Monday, August 3 @ 6 PM at Extension office
