Weld County Fair Board Minutes

December 1, 2025


The Meeting was called to order by President Landon Cogburn at 6:00 p.m.

Members Present: Those present were Vice President Aaron Helus, Secretary Isaia Aricayos, Treasurer Levi Loveland, and Members Tom Bledsoe, Bailey Naibauer, and Fred Kayser. 

Ex-Officio/Staff Present: Kali Benson, Kim Eastwood, and Larry Hooker

Special Guests: None

Agenda: No changes to the Agenda.

Motion to approve the consent Agenda by Tom Bledsoe, second by Aaron Helus; motion passed 7-0.

Special Guests/Requests:

  1. Royalty Court Report – Queen Addison Tellez -- a lot of activities the past month; light parades are planned for December for the holidays.
  2. Jr. Fair Board - Secretary Garrett Hall -- initiatives involving community, and a lot of planning and great ideas being shared.

Old Business:

  1. Working Budget -- need to schedule a work session to review the budget for next year.  
  2. Fair Staff Update -- 2026 vendor packet updated and will be shared with Board for feedback; online payment set up for approved vendors.  Festival of Trees Fair Tree has been set up downtown.  Farm Show table has been reserved.  Contracts for judges have been signed and returned.  Sponsor follow up for next year is in progress.  Setting up band to play for Fair.  Movie in the park is in the works as well and looking for sponsors for both band and movie.

New Business:

  1. Fair Friend, Rising Star, and Fair Book Dedication -- Motion to have Andersen Salvage as Family Friend of the Fair for 2026 by tom Bledsoe, seconded by Bailey Naibauer, motion passed.  Motion to have Aaron Helus Fairbook Dedication 2026 by Levi Lovealnd, seconded by Ton Bledsoe, motion passed.  Motion to have Emily Hogseth as Shining Star 2026 by Tom Bledsoe, seconded by Levi Loveland, motion passed.
  2. Cattle Ear Tags for February Check In -- use two tags; button and dangle tags, lain dangle tags with Weld County name on it; use original 840 tag if cattle has it, if not, one will be assigned, 840 ag number will be on the dangle/visual tag.
  3. Committee Reports (Board representation assignments drawn from hat annually)
  • Premier Exhibitor – Tom Bledsoe – working on invoices to get to donors as needed, working on budget as well that needs to be for the committee; meeting scheduled for December 2. 
  • Carcass Contest – Isaia Aracayos – received CSU lamb data ranking was incorrect and missed a part of their formula, received updated, 6 of 10 are included in the new report but in different order, there is an offset of $1,500 for the additional winners.  Larry is working on looking at getting additional funds and sponsorships, after funds are secured, then send communication to sheep exhibitors and share rankings.   
  • All Around Showmanship – Tom Bledsoe – no meeting scheduled at this time. 
  • Drug Testing –Landon Cogburn -- nothing to report at this time.
  • Jr. Fair Board - Aaron Helus -- excited about the group and what they aim to accomplish this year.
  • Jr. Livestock Sale – Bailey Naibauer – looking for new photographer, 4 members have resigned; 2 applicants reviewed and recommended by committee.  Motion to approve recommended applicants, Jace Roselle and Kyle Cox, for committee by Tom Bledsoe, seconded by Aaron Helus, motion passed. 
  • Security, Parking, and Risk Management –Levi Loveland – working on setting up a meeting.
  • Royalty – Aaron Helus –excited about the group and all their activities; group is working well together.
  • Livestock Animal Health – Landon Cogburn –one vacant committee spot, looking for new member; will look into handling approved applications and how long it would be approved for depending on open positions.

  1. Next Meeting Monday, January 5, 2026 @ 6:00 p.m.
