Presidents Letter
Dear Weld County Fair Exhibitors and Guests,
On behalf of the entire Weld County Fair Board, I would like to WELCOME you to the 2011 Weld County Fair. Our fair has a proud history of showcasing the best of Weld County: its youth, its communities, and its agricultural heritage. This year’s fair continues to salute those things of which we are most proud - the kids of Weld County.
The Fair Board and other volunteers have put a lot of time and thought into making your fair a fun family event. Sunday July 31st will be a great time to come visit, enjoy a free barbeque, and have a good time with your friends, family and neighbors. We hope to give our kids some time to relax, kick up their heels and enjoy the fair after they have completed their competition, and also include time to recognize the BEST OF THE BEST at your Weld County Fair.
The Weld County Fair is the result of months of planning and preparation by the volunteers who serve on the Weld County Fair Board, and the hundreds of volunteer leaders, superintendents, coaches, and instructors of the 4-H, FFA, Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs. I would like to personally thank the Weld County Commissioners for the help, support and dedication to the Weld County Fair. We look forward to helping support this wonderful year of celebrating Weld County’s 150th anniversary with special events during the fair.
I would like to personally thank my fellow members of the Fair Board for their support on committees and running the fair. Every year this group of 21 people spend countless volunteer hours with very little recognition. If you have a heart for Weld County and it’s youth, I encourage you to come join our board as we need new people with fresh ideas to continue to make this a fabulous event. Also, I would like to personally thank the Colorado State University Extension staff, Janet Konkel our Fair Coordinator, the Island Grove Regional Park Staff, along with the rest of the great people who’s hard work and dedication make the Weld County Fair a success for the kids and community. As our region evolves, we welcome the chance to showcase Weld County as the #1 agricultural county in Colorado.
Most of all I want to thank our 4-H, FFA, Boy Scout and Girl Scout kids who have spent countless hours completing their projects, and are ready to exhibit to show off their hard work. Without the kids’ dedication to their projects, the fair would be half the event it is. The youth of Weld County are who inspire me to volunteer my hours with the Weld County Fair. THANK YOU for your dedication to the heritage and pride that represents Weld County and the Weld County Fair.
Whether you’re able to cheer on a family member, have an entry yourself, or just enjoy an inexpensive beautiful summer day in Colorado, I personally invite you to the 2011 WELD COUNTY FAIR.
Sincerely,
Stuart L. Gebauer
